Nice desk!

Erica walked into my office and handed me my DoorDash lunch. She paused, then exclaimed, “Nice desk!”

“Oh, thanks!” I told her. It caught me off guard. To be honest, I couldn’t recall anyone complementing me on my desk before. She reminded me just much I’d taken my desk for granted.

However, I didn’t really dig in until my peers probed me. “What is it specifically that you love about your desk?” I listed all the things I had done to make sure that I love my desk.

I came up with 14 things:

1. I can stand 90% of the time & move around on calls

2. Electric motors quickly raise and lower the desk

3. The frame is durable & doesn’t shake.

4. I plug in 2 cords to get my laptop connected to everything

5. The 43″ 4k display lets me split 3 windows across

6. The drawer organizers give me storage for things I want nearby

7. They also raise the monitor to eye level, reducing strain.

8. The cable organizers underneath the desk hide the clutter.

9. The desk’s wheels allow me to easily roll it around.

10. It has ONE cord going to it to power everything.

11. The CenterCam helps me “make eye contact” on Zoom.

12. I drink from a custom designed mug.

13. I use custom branded slate coasters.

14. I’ve got plenty of workspace on both sides of me.

This is just one part of my office…

My Desk.

Almost every other part of my office has a specific purpose in its design. It’s one of my most intentionally designed spaces.

And the reason why I’ve designed My Desk like this? It comes down to what I love.

– I love things that are clean, simple, and minimalistic.

– I love things that are efficient and don’t waste my time.

– I love things that are practical, not getting in the way.

– I love things that allow some flexibility for the person & moment

– I love things that are innovative, if they can support my goals.

– I love things that are personalized, made to fit me.

– I love things that are strong & durable.

– I love things that are designed to reflect their purpose.

They say that how you do one thing is how you do everything…and what I’ve listed above are all the things I love about what I do in my work!

So thank you Erica for my lunch, a complement, and a reminder of why I love doing what I do!
